Despite our plans and wishes, we were unable to hold our Hanukkah benefit in its traditional format in 2020. Given the difficult circumstances at the time, we decided to host the event in a new, online environment.
The lighting of the Hanukkah candles was organized in cooperation with the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic. The ceremonial lighting took place at the Old-New Synagogue on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, led by Chief Land Rabbi Karol Efraim Sidon, with participants joining the festive moment live via a Facebook broadcast.

Throughout Hanukkah, we sold benefit “sufganiyot” (Hanukkah jelly doughnuts) freshly fried for us by the mamacoffee bakery, as well as festive greeting cards. These cards were created in collaboration with the stationery studio Paragraph paper & graphics and the designer Judaica brand DVAŠ.
Our online Hanukkah benefit raised a wonderful total of 44,028 CZK. The full amount collected will be used in 2021 to fund essential social and medical care for Holocaust survivors.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us by purchasing doughnuts or greeting cards, or by sending a donation, as well as to all our partners for their wonderful cooperation. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
