On December 22, 2019, we hosted our traditional benefit concert combined with the celebration of the holiday of Hanukkah at Café Jedna in the Veletržní palác.
The festive evening was hosted by Šimon Holý. Opening remarks were delivered by Michal Klíma, Chairman of the NFOH Board of Directors, Marta Malá, Executive Director of the NFOH, Tomáš Kraus, Secretary of the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic, and Irit Amitai, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Czech Republic.
The Hanukkah menorah was lit by Chief Land Rabbi Karol Efraim Sidon, and the Romani band Terne Chave provided live music for dancing and listening. The evening also featured an auction of a painting by artist Kamila Ženatá, which raised 4,000 CZK, as well as a varied program for children led by experienced madrichim.

The benefit generated great interest—in total, we raised a wonderful 58,877 CZK to support care for Holocaust survivors, which will be utilized for these projects in 2020.
We thank all generous participants and partners for their support. Special thanks go to the mamacoffee bakery for their long-term cooperation and for providing a fantastic venue. We would also like to thank all other sponsors and donors: ČSOB AM, Conseq Investment Management, České vinařství Chrámce, Jewish e-shop, Becalel and P3K publishing houses, the Jewish Museum in Prague, Kamenický pivovar, Moishe House, Association for the Restoration of Monuments in Úštěk Region, Municipal District Prague 7 – Art, the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Czech Republic, the Supervisory Board of the NFOH, Gabriela Dymešová, and Jindřich Buxbaum. The project was organized with the support of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Foundation of the Jewish Community in Prague.
We thank all attendees for creating a wonderful festive atmosphere, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
