On September 30, 2024, we hosted a benefit New Year’s gathering at the NoD bar to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. In light of the approaching solemn anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks as well as the recent floods, the event was held in a more community-focused manner.
The evening was hosted by Sona Beaumont and Jiří Valeš. Opening remarks were delivered by Michal Klíma, Chairman of the NFOH Board of Directors, Marta Malá, Executive Director of the NFOH, and Michael Pelíšek, Secretary of the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic. The New Year’s address was given by Chief Land Rabbi Karol Efraim Sidon, who also joined in commemorating the events of October 7 and offered a prayer for the kidnapped Israeli hostages. Eliáš Sidon sounded the shofar.
Musical accompaniment was provided by DJ Hlava and the Dorůžka–Fischmann–Novák jazz trio. The evening included a traditional raffle, New Year’s honey cake, and activities for children organized by madrichim from the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic.
The benefit proceeds totaling 37,208 CZK will be dedicated to funding essential social and medical care for Holocaust survivors in 2025.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants for the warm atmosphere and support. Special thanks for their cooperation go to Ojuna Sidonová and to all our partners for their support: the Prague City Hall, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic, Conseq Investment Management, and NoD bar.
Thank you for your support, and we wish you Shana tova u-metuka!
