It is with sadness in our hearts that we have received the news that Mrs. Emma Sternova passed away on Friday. During the Shoah, she was in the Barcs Ghetto, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Ravensbruck and Lipstadt. Her memories were published in Roman Cilek’s book, “Holocaust, zřetězení zla”. Two years ago, Mrs. Emma told us: “I am among those individuals who survived their death in the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp; I survived three times. I wish the present generation would not have to live through such horrors. Be modest, hardworking, give respect to every single person. Appreciate what you have. Perhaps, there will come a time when there will not as much as you have right now. By appreciating of what you have you might be able to better tolerate the possible transitional period when there will not be enough.”
It was an honor, Mrs. Emma.
May your soul be bound up in the bond of eternal life and may your memory be a blessing.
