Marian Turski was appointed the new president of the International Auschwitz Committee. “I am a survivor of Auschwitz and therefore belong to a generation that remembers, with horror, how dictatorial or authoritarian regimes overtook Germany and Europe and what it led to. Today’s geopolitical developments, influenced by growing hatred, unfortunately remind us of that time. That is why our voice, the voice of the survivors of Auschwitz, and the voice of the International Auschwitz Committee, must continue to be heard loud and clear and throughout the world,” he said after his election.
