On November 12, we held another seminar in a series for social, health, and psychological service workers in Jewish communities and other organizations who care for Holocaust survivors and their families. This time, the seminar was on the topic: Who cares for the carers?
In the first part in the morning, lecturer, psychologist, and educator Dr. Sandi Mann from the University of Central Lancashire focused her lecture on the effects of burnout and compassion fatigue on people working in the helping professions. Participants had the opportunity to realize how important and necessary self-care is, especially in their professions. The afternoon session took the form of a workshop focused on practical skills for strengthening mental resilience and developing kindness and compassion towards oneself.
We are very pleased with the high participation and many positive and inspiring comments in the feedback.
We would like to thank our partners, the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic, the Claims Conference, and the Public Benefit Association for the Support of Holocaust Victims for their financial support, as well as the Department of Education and Culture of the Jewish Museum in Prague for providing the venue free of charge.
