The 2018 Arnošt Lustig Award for bravery, courage, humanity and justice was awarded to general Karel Řehka. During the course of his military career he was deployed in the foreign military missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan. He focuses on the theory of armed conflicts as well as on the hybrid war and currently represents the Multinational Division North East in Poland. He got the Award on May 16 at 12 o’clock from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mr. Tomáš Petříček, a member of the Honorary Committee of the Award and the chairman of the Committee of the Award of Professor Jan Pirk at the Residence of the Mayor of Prague. General Karel Řehka, decided to dedicate the award money associated with the Award for charitable purposes. The Foundation for Holocaust Victims is one of the organizations, which received the money from general Řehka.
