The commemorative concert “Lebensmelodien: The Harmony of History”, held last week at the German Embassy in Prague, was dedicated to the survivors of Nazi persecution. The event was organized in cooperation with the German Embassy in Prague, the Czech-German Future Fund / Deutsch-Tschechischer Zukunftsfonds, and the non-profit organization Living Memory.
The guests were welcomed by German Ambassador Andreas Künne, followed by a keynote speech from Michaela Vidláková, a survivor of the Theresienstadt ghetto. Afterwards, forgotten compositions by Jewish composers from 1933 to 1945 were performed.
On the occasion of the concert and the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we published the booklet Messages from Holocaust Survivors, which features nearly forty portrait photographs and messages to future generations.
The Holocaust survivors present signed the Survivors’ Declaration, which is being reaffirmed worldwide as part of Israel’s chairmanship of the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance).
We were very pleased by the strong attendance of survivors, with whom we have cooperated for many years.
We thank all our partner organizations for their support.
Take a look back at the event through the photographs of Jindřich Buxbaum.
