On June 23, 2026, we organized this year’s second accredited seminar for social workers in Jewish communities across the Czech Republic. The lecturer, Mgr. Bc. Zdeňka Beránková Juchelková from Gaudes Academy, guided the participants through the topic “How to Handle Delivering Difficult News in Social Services Practice.”
Together with the lecturer, participants focused on the specifics of challenging communication with clients, their families, and colleagues. They discussed both verbal and non-verbal components of communication, the professional attitude of the worker, and proven techniques for leading emotionally sensitive conversations. They also addressed stress responses in clients receiving bad news, managing client emotions, and the vital role of self-care, burnout prevention, and supervision in managing personal stress.
We would like to thank the Public Benefit Association for the Support of Holocaust Survivors for their financial contribution and the Jewish Museum in Prague for providing their venue.
