Last week in April we organised 6th year of Mechanchim seminar – a seminar for teachers and lecturers in Jewish education. It was a two-day seminar. The first day was lead by Shelley Kedar, a Founding Director at The Shlichut Institute, The Jewish Agency for Israel. The participants jointly thought about the challenges of educating on Israel within constantly changing conditions of current Jewish world and they all were shown activities that could be applied in their classrooms or community programmes. The second day was lead by Nic Abery, an expert on Jewish programmes involving the work with art and museum artefacts. Nic introduced a project Israel70, which resources several reknown Israeli museums for the purposes of education on Israel. 36 teachers and community workers from various Jewish communities around the Czech Republic and other friendly organisations attended the seminar. The seminar was supported by American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Yesod, The JCP Foundation and Jewish Museum in Prague. For pictures, click: http://www.fondholocaust.cz/cs/fotogalerie.
