On March 19, 2026, we organized this year’s first seminar for social workers in Jewish communities across the Czech Republic. The lecturer, Bc. Renata Kratochvílová Křemenová from Gaudes Academy, guided the participants through the topic “To Understand, Perceive, and Listen – Communication in Care for People with Dementia.”
Together with the lecturer, participants focused on Alzheimer’s disease, its stages, and the specific needs of patients. They discussed the principles of effective verbal and non-verbal communication, as well as ways to overcome potential prejudices. They also addressed identifying the needs of clients with dementia in daily care, practical approaches to managing challenging situations, and utilizing reminiscence activities and validation to support client activation.
We would like to thank the Public Benefit Association for the Support of Holocaust Survivors for their financial contribution, the Jewish Museum in Prague for providing their venue, and all the donors who make our seminars possible.
